Questions to Ask Before Purchasing Medical Equipment

3 min read

Before committing to a purchase, it helps to have a consistent set of questions ready for any supplier conversation. Start with the essentials: What's included in the initial price, installation, training, and a warranty period, or are these billed separately?

Ask about ongoing costs: What consumables does this equipment require, and are they stocked locally? What's the typical turnaround time for repairs, and are loaner units available while yours is being serviced?

Clarify support scope: Who performs installation and training, the supplier's own technicians, or a subcontractor? How quickly can a technician reach your facility if something goes wrong, especially if you're outside a major city?

Finally, ask for references from facilities using similar equipment, and don't hesitate to request a demonstration. A supplier confident in their product and support should be glad to show both in action before you commit.
